Works like a charm with the standard VLC and Totem (a.k.a. "Videos" in Linux Mint). With VLC, just install the x265 plugin using Synaptic after installing the libraries.
Tested on Linux Mint 17.1, which is based on Ubuntu 14.04.

This files are ReEncoded using next-generation video format/codec x265. it’s one of the best and more advanced than current popular format x264. It also named HEVC which stands for High-Efficient Video Coding.
This is a new HQ format, which brought stunning video quality but it probably won’t be played on your old smart TV or BluRay Player. Though I played it fine with MX player on my android device.
If you want to play it on your PC, you can easily use VLC, MPC-HC, GOM Player or any other modern media player. just be sure you got the latest version of them.
If you have no video and only the audio is playing, try to update your player or use another one. Installing LAV Filters may help.
This is nothing you can compare with x264 releases so don’t let the size scare you. small sizes don’t always mean LOW QUALITIES. This is the best you can get in this size.
if you want to play this smoothly, you need to use a device/PC with at least dual-core processor.
You have to update your player to the latest version. Also if you use your PC to watch them, installing LAV Filter will help you a lot if you want to use KMPlayer or PotPlayer. Many players have native support for the codec, like MPC-HC(free) or PowerDVD 14(paid).
It’s very easy though. believe me, this format will be so popular in one or two years so you have to deal with it anyway.

4. PC Players
To all those who are having any issues playing these files please read the following Comments ...
As long as you have a Pc with a descent graphic capability and the latest Codec Package and or Media Players, you should be able to watch and enjoy these High Quality Files....
HEVC-PSA Provides us with the best way to watch your TV shows but this technology is new, so the equipment that you watch it with needs to be fully up to date.....
HEVC-PSA uses the very latest in Video Encoding Codec called x265 which is capable of far greater Compression and higher Resolution than its predecessor [x264 AVC]...
So your USB plug on your TV will be more than likely in-capable of of playing these files because this is such new and advanced technology that your standard TV is not advanced enough to Cope with it ....
But please do not allow this minor setback to stop you from using this great technology and enjoying HEVC-PSA Files ....
Just plug a PC into your TV or Projector [Which is my Choice] etc... via a HDMI connection [Preferably] that has fairly descent graphic capability [512Mb graphics card upwards is ideal but you may get away with a 256Mb card] and be sure to have your Codec package fully up to date so the PC can decode the files and play them smoothly...
I recommend you use a K-Lite Codec Package which supports both 32 bit and 64 bit PC's and you can get it via this link along with most of the latest media players like KODI, Daum Pot player, Light Alloy [My personnel favorite], VLC, SM Player, etc..etc..etc....

News :
Windows 10 will support HEVC
iOS FaceTime supports HEVC
Note :
HEVC is still in developement
It is heavily CPU Intensive for both encoding & decoding
You need a faster CPU (recent dual/quad/octa core)
See CPU usage while playing
Your display should match your hardware
Larger displays need faster CPUs
Despite all this, if video is still jitters
you need to upgrade your hardware in order to play HEVC
or stick with x264
Fast GPU/Graphics card , need update on that
I hope this could be of help
If I missed any platform, & you know about x265/HEVC support
